Tuned in to see the Dodgers v Diamondback game last night. Low and behold-the place was packed with fans. Apparently you can sit at the games-or at least a replica of you can attend. And depending on where you want to sit, much like in real time, you pay a certain price. I.E. if you want to sit behind home plate it will cost you $250. All you need to do is send in your $ and a photo of yourself and there you are. Not sure what it costs to sit in the right field corner. There is a great photo in today's L.A. Times of a security guy staring up at the "fans" as if he's going to kick out an obnoxious cardboard fan.
Seriously, it ain't all that bad. They have appropriate fan noise depending on the situation, organ music, a loudspeaker announcing name and calling on the cardboard fans to chant, have tv announcers 6 ft apart. But one thing they don't have-guess?- You got it "the wave". But I'm betting they figure that out too. After all your brain is hardwired so that while you "know" what's going on it just isn't that far removed from an actual fan experience. Unless of course, you happen to be a cardboard fan.
