Really nice story, zn, and good job on taking are of your daughter like that..
I had post hole diggers, but the ground here is hard as a rock normally.. I started with post hole diggers, then switched to a hand shovel.. It was the exact opposite here, tho - it was over 100 degrees already, so I was pretty worn out afterward..
I went back out front later to check the mail again and kept staring at the spot in the street that was stained red.. I decided right then I didn't want to look at that until the next rain (which could be months here) and got a hose out and cleaned the street..
I still stared at the street this morning.. seeing a creature die just affects me deeply - especially because I know he/she suffered greatly for several seconds.. it'll be a long time before I get back to normal over this - if ever..
