Sorry, no way can I come up with a 'favorite' for bands. Not possible. I will think about it, anyway, and try later. But as for Sting...
I posted a thread some time back about albums/LP's in which I loved every single song on it.... they are few, like a handful. "Ten Summoner's Tale" by Sting is one of them. The intricacy, complexity, of many of Sting's songs are works of art. Vinnie Colaiuta is the drummer on the Ten Summoner Tale's album and he is in my top 5 all time favorite drummers.
Sting reminds me a little of Bela Fleck... not his music... but in this way:
Both corroborate a LOT with the best musician's in the world today... with NO bias, meaning they have used steel drums, accordions, flutes, oboes, you name it! And not just that... but the musician's they bring in to play these instruments are so friggin' fantastic that one can only wonder how it is that they aren't mega-super-stars.
I've posted this before... but try to name even ONE of the musician's in this video... and yet each is at the very top of the pyramid when it comes to 'musicians'. Hell, most here, my guess, won't even recognize Bela himself (the banjo player).
