To offer my understanding of the owner's position (which is not to say that I endorse it): With the post season money that's available the owners think they can play a 50 game season, pay full prorated salaries, and still make money. The owners claim that for every extra game they play it costs them $640,000, so they would agree to play more games if the players took less than their full prorated salary. In their latest offer they proposed playing 72 games with players getting 70% of their prorated salary guaranteed and then up to 83% if the full post season is played. (Owners are concerned that a second wave will wipe out the post season so they don't want to commit paying out money that they might not get.)

How this translates to the million dollar player:

50 game season, fully prorated: $308,642

72 game season, 70% prorated: $311,111 (Yes, that is an extra $2,469 for an extra 22 games)

72 game season, 83% prorated: $368,889
