Actually he was 41. He was a Canadian citizen born in Harrisburg Canada. Came to the US to build motorcycles and race cars in his mid 20s. Met my mom, became a citizen, and joined the Navy after Pearl. I was 5 when he was killed. I have little or no memories of him. But I have hundreds of letters he wrote to my mom while he was away. Not sure why but I have a very difficult time reading them.
