Very true that I'm a hard sale.... since I don't really like the genre much... BUT... I'm trying. I'm not having much luck....
Over the last week I've seen maybe 4 or 5 of them... haven't liked any of them. Last night I watched "I See You".... and the only thing frightening about to me was how much Helen Hunt has aged. I hadn't seen her in a long while and I was really shocked. She looked ancient. It HAD to be the makeup, BUT... if so why? She looked MUCH older than the guy that played her husband.
I will give "I See You" props for one thing... VERY dramatic music, (non-stop), that leads too....... nothing. Never saw that technique used before.
Before you give me a recommendation or two be aware: NO slasher movies... like Freddie type movies. I hate them. Gore for Gore's-sake does nothing for me.
Tonight I'm going to try "A Quiet Place"... very highly rated by fans and critics. It's yet another post-apocalyptic movie, of which there is no shortage, so I'm not highly motivated to watch it... and could change my mind. I could watch "The Lighthouse" instead.
Horror movies DO have something going for them that I like... many involve a 'mystery' and I like that... IF it leads somewhere. Even a 'bad' horror movie I'll usually watch to the end because I have to satiate my curiosity.
Horror movies that I liked, (some of them a LOT), include The Exorcist, Jaws, Psycho, Rosemary's Baby, The Birds.
I'm fond of the old and classic scary movies... Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Dracula, BUT... I'm looking for a 'newer' horror movie... last decade, maybe two.
