Anyone else see them perform under their original name? It was early 70s and they had already changed over to Blue Öyster Cult but they performed a show at Saratoga Performing Arts Center using their original name: Soft White Underbelly. I have no idea why they did that - I think it was a free show and maybe they wanted to keep the crowd down or maybe they wanted to do a test run of a new show under the radar.
In any event my friends and I knew who they were and went to the show. One enduring memory: all 5 band members playing lead guitar at the same time. Never seen anything like it before of since.
A little googel-work says this was their lineup at the time. I am relieved to see that they all played guitar. Perhaps something I think I remember from the 70s actually happened ...
Eric Bloom – lead vocals, guitar, keyboards
Buck Dharma – lead guitar, keyboards, vocals
Joe Bouchard – bass, keyboards, guitar, vocals
Albert Bouchard – drums, guitar, harmonica, vocals
Allen Lanier – keyboards, guitar, bass, backing vocals
