Why I wouldn't want to be a sportswriter these days. . .

Good Lord. . . have you seen some of these megasyllable, primarily African names showing up in the draft?

Back in my days, early 70s, when I worked the sports desk it was mostly Smith and Jones. . . we did have a few "ski's", but they were phonetically easy to spell. . . Bill Mazeroski (Pirates) brings me to mind.

I'd give you some examples of what I'm talking about, but I'd never be able to pronounce them . . . no less spell them. I guess these writers now need a pretty extensive spellcheck.

Of course, getting out of the field was a no brainer for me. . . it didn't pay well. . . I think Dawg will attest to that? So I went over to the dark side for the bucks and got into advertising.
