what sells is mimic'd. why buy a $$$$ dollar car when you can get a $ car that looks almost exactly like the $$$$ car?
As you know, Frank, I did a little race car driving in my youth... up to about 35yrs old. Various types of race cars. It's a bit amazing to me how the vast majority of people cannot tell a good handling car from a poorly handling car. What I'm getting at is... I think a lot of cars today are sold on 'looks' FAR more than on handling characteristics. Safety, of course, is MUCH better today than in the old days... but that is mandated, handling really isn't. - JamesJM
