so yea , comic book collectibles are kind of a big thing......................lol
but for me , it's more on a personal note then a financial note
the stuff I collect , is just for me , usually just replacing the ones I had and or read as a kid , or wanted , but neverh had , most are nothing special or have any real dollar amount attached to them
a few are kind of expensive , because they contain a characters first appearance , but the only reason I collected those where because I owned them as a kid , trouble is , as a kid , I would walk around with those comics folded up and stuffed in my back pocket and would eventually end up in the trash.....................lol
most of the ones I collect aren't really worth much of anything at all , some of them , the shipping and handling cost most then the comic it's self\
their only real value is to me
I don't display any , well ,usually don't , most of my collection , they just end up bagged and board and placed in a storage box in the basement
sadly , I worry that actual comic books won't be around much longer , I fear that comic books have out priced their target market
when I was a kid , you could buy a comic for like 45 cents , yea , they were cheaply made and full of ads , back in the 70's , a 30 page comic book was 12 pages of ads and the paper was brown and tore if you weren't really careful
now days , the comics are like 4-5 bucks apiece , yea , their a much higher quality , on glossy paper and then don't contain ads anymore , which is cool , but seriously , how many kids can afford comic books anymore , just like plastic model kits , they've over priced their target market
there is a rumor out there , ........
well , first of all , DC Comics are owned by AT&T , and the rumor is , that AT&T wanted to close down the publishing department of DC Comics , meaning AT&T will still own the movie rights and TV rights of DC characters , but the comic books themselves will become a thing of the past
but , there is also a new rumor that Marvel Comics wants to take over DC Comics , if , and thats still a BIG if , if that happens
one other big problem comic books face now days , other then their high price , many just end up getting downloaded on Youtube and you can simply just read them for free without ever actually having to own the actual paper copy
comic books are still as popular as they ever were , maybe even more so , it's just the physical paper copy that will begin to disappear .............sadly
welcome to the age of digital
the only paper copies I collect are Amazing Spider-man , which I've been collecting for years , and now , they rebooted Thor , so I stared collecting that book as well
here's Thor #3 for your reading enjoyment , it's the most recent one that just came out , ( there is a little clitch in the video at about the 10 minute mark , so you have to just ahead a couple minutes )
