my recommendation is, unless you have poor eyesight, not to sit too close to the screen. The "one shot" manner in which the film is made was very tough on my eyes. We were with another couple and had no choice but to sit near the screen with them. You are actually ON the battlefield and my eyes were hurting in a very short time. I like to sit where I can be entertained by whatever I'm seeing rather than being an actual part of the action.
As far as Midway goes there are a lot of documentaries out now taken from both the American and Japanese view. Excellent productions that truly give a historical perspective on how both luck and miscalculations were so crucial.
