The Aviator - I can be stubborn... despite all the evidence I find it difficult to believe Howard Hughes was THAT whacko. Good movie, but you don't want to watch it with me as I will constantly mutter, under my breath, "Oh give me a break", accompanied by a lot of eye-rolling.
I have read two books on him. Sure some of that may have been sensationalized, but he was a perfectionist and would perseverance on tiny tiny details (e.g., having the steering wheel of a plane redone hundreds of times).
He did have significant mental health issues and had at least 5 or 6 traumatic brain injuries which I feel exacerbated his related mental health behavior. He was in several auto accidents and plane accidents (one he almost died). Also Eva Gardner clocked him on the frontal lobe with a metal bell knocking him out.
Fascinating read as he was a playboy genius with very odd behaviors. The movie only showed part of them.
