along with a few other comedic actors. I thought A Fish Called Wanda was pretty well done, to name one more. Perhaps its hard to take comedy seriously, lol. But as good as it is I'm not sure it should be considered a "best ever" contender.

I think the truth is that the character being played and the writing add to the overall impact. Probably a lot of great acting done on writing that is good but not stellar. And I think it's easier to write "crazy" or over the top characters ... i.e. Taxi Driver, Cuckoo's Nest, the Joker, etc. I would guess that comedy in some instances or to some degree can be harder to write. Gump certainly had some comedic moments. Not sure what, if anything I am adding to the conversation, lol...
