They are only silly if they don't work.
I am not superstitious at all. I do however have traditions.
I have to wear the same color jersey the team is wearing. All day. If I have the wrong color on before the game, changing to the right color doesn't help. They are doomed.
And I have to watch the game with a couple of specific stuffed mascots, Rambo and Bill DaBaere. And at critical points of the game I make incantations to them, and maybe pour out an oblation or two.
But those are traditions... not superstitions.
