1982 I think. BUT... within a couple of years it became glaringly obvious that nearly all business applications were DOS... so I converted. Stayed with Windows until 2007 when I returned to Apple.
Yes, I remember those early years... writing my own programs. I actually wrote a few that some local banks used for local agriculture needs... which were quite different than what was available at that time and were mostly intended for retail businesses. Agriculture is not retail.
When applications specific to agriculture began to crop up, (very slow process), I began getting very into spreadsheets and database programming. I used to love MS Access and creating databases and got quite good at it... not 'professional' by any means but sophisticated with a lot of self created scripts. Then more applications started coming out that made that unnecessary so I slowly began to quit any programming or template building.
Today it's all a hobby for me and becoming less and less important. As I mentioned. Gone back to reading a lot... exploring the outdoors... and my 'tech' time is almost entirely research...although I do dabble in video editing but I think even that will end this year. - JamesJM
