College is a tough adjustment all by itself without also having to deal with being far, far away from home. If he can handle it, then good for him. Not all young folks can. My hometown is Wichita, Kansas and I and went to Wichita State University. I lived with my parents my first semester but after that I moved out and was on my own. I didn't have to deal with some of the things my out of town, out-of-state friends did since I attended college in the same city where I lived. If it's at all possible, I'd hope he could attend college closer to home so that he can still experience the independence so many young people crave and need, but not the loneliness and homesickness from being so far away from home. Whatever he decides... I wish him the best!
