I approached a fella in a Cracker Barrell here in Jacksonville, wearing a CV-5 ball cap. Turned out he was the official photographer of the USS Yorktown during the Battle Of Midway. He took me and my boys to his car and showed us several albums of original photos taken during the battle. MANY I had seen before but many I had not. Some of the ones that I have seen in several books, he described gory details found in a couple that a casual glance will not pick up....Like remains of gunners by a gun tub (I always thought it was just debris of the ship) He spent 45 minutes with me and my boys. I sent him a thank you note and he replied with copies of more photos signed by him. Bill Roy was his name. He passed away a few years ago.
