I didn't know about this movie until very recently... early Jan. Around the first of the year I read about it... not long after I saw a very brief trailer.
When I read about it I was immediately turned off by it because I read that Gary Oldman was playing Churchill. I have nothing against Oldman and in fact think he's a very good actor... but as Churchill? How in the HELL is that going to work? The man is a skinny somewhat odd looking guy and bears no resemblance to Churchill at all.
Then I saw the trailer... Oldman WAS Churchill. Early prediction... best 'makeup' in the Oscars.
I can't really explain this next thought but it is what it is: I cannot recall looking forward to seeing a movie as much as I am this one: The Darkest Hour. Nope, ain't seen it yet... but maybe tonight.
I have read some about Churchill, quite a bit actually.... and I am enthralled with the man, the legend... that's true. I suppose that's it... but even beyond that my tail is tingling, (Over The Hedge reference)... something is telling me this is going to be good. Sadly, I'm so convinced this is going to be a great movie that I'm scared to go see it... fear of disappointment.
So there I stand.... I'll do a follow up after I see it... maybe tonight... surely this week. - JamesJM
