I thought it got off to a great start... fantastic start, actually. In the end my thoughts were, "eh". The movie was bi-polar, IMHO.

Throughout they did well, for moments, for sticking with the formula of what made Star Trek so great... which was the characters. VERY well, in fact, and IMHO. I thought the actors were quite good except for the guy playing Chekov, (sp?) who was over the top, IMHO, and so carried away with the accent I didn't understand a word he said in the entire movie.

But in the end it was not a good blend of plot line and our beloved Star Trek characters.... the two - plot and characters - were never in sync. The character aspect I thought great, the plot quite mundane.

I do not think it was a 'bad' movie. I enjoyed it immensely for short periods of time interspersed with periods of yawning boredom. It DID, however, give me hope that something truly great might come soon... I'll watch in hopes of that happening. - JamesJM
