It doesn't happen much ... probably because I look like an escapee from a local prison ... but I bristle whenever I'm talking about our dogs (it's more accurate to say we are their humans) and someone either says or infers ... 'how can you love a dog that much? Do you love dogs more than humans?'
The answer, for me, has always been fairly simple: Love is love.
Without a moment's hesitation ... I will tell anyone that I love our dogs as much as it's possible to love another living creature.
And ... I also love my granddaughter as much as it's possible to love another living creature. And she's not my blood, either.
Love is love.
Period.
