Man-watching that game last night was like watching the old Dodgers v Yankees in the WS. during the 50s. Dodgers would get bonked, come back and bonk the Yankees only to get knocked out by some guys called DiMaggio, Mantle, and Berra. Then the Dodgers start something in the 9th only to be done in by the likes of a Johnny Mize or Roger Maris at 1st base.
Some time ago most of us expressed concern that without a decent starting rotation there was little hope the team could advance in the playoffs. But Roberts seems to be doing it with smoke and mirrors. Last nights move to intentionally walk two to load the bases was a great decision IMO. The only question was Blanton pitching to a left handed hitter. But if he had brought in a left handed reliever Maddon would have put up a right handed batter.
Thank goodness there are NOT that many chess moves in a Rams game. I couldn't take it all on the same day.
