and this goes WAY further than just the Olympics.. I've noticed this on American Ninja Warrior down to almost every contestant show like American Idol etc: Everybody they do an in-depth story on has a heartbreaking story.. Stories of abuse, neglect, being orphans, alcoholic parents, dead parents, dead siblings, being broke, living under bridges, cancer, diseases, taxes, handicaps, bad nicknames, being chronically ugly etc...
I mean, really... c'mon.... enough of the hard luck stories.. Can we not just assume everyone competing has a horrific background story to tell and leave it at that?
Trying not to be a jerk here - I just get tired of all the "woe is me" stuff.. Even Michael Phelps, who probably had the best childhood ever - they hafta concentrate on his "fall from grace" with the pot smoking, DUI stuff...
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
