I hate to be so dramatic...

..but I just went outside to check the mail.. a car drove past, and as he continued, I realized he had hit a squirrel, who was still alive in the road.. at first I thought maybe it wasn't too serious, but as I got closer to him, I knelt down and began praying as he bounced about 3 feet in the air, came down and never moved again.. I prayed that he wouldn't suffer and I prayed I wouldn't have to put him out of his misery.. God answered both prayers..

I got a box, put him inside, dug a hole under the tree I planted to remember Lucie and Torrie, our two Beagles we lost, and buried him next to Barney, another Beagle that was buried there, as well..

Its one thing when you drive by and see a squirrel that's already dead.. its another thing totally when you watch them die.. I just thought he deserved to be buried and not picked up by animal control and thrown in a dumpster. I just finished burying him.. I'm still shaking.. That was not the way I wanted to start this day, but hopefully I did right by that little squirrel..
