And now that I have way too much time on my hands, I'm going to ask.
What was life like on a carrier. I mean it isn't exactly a luxury cruise. . . not even close. Vickie and I have spent time on cruises, but at the end, I was ready to get off. Way too confining. And that was after a week.
So, what's it like with 4,000? sailors on a floating bullet. Did you have a day off? What did you do for recreation? What was it like switching bunks with two others. I know from my army life, making a bed was enough. . . you would have to tear off all your sheets and blankets and next man up remake the same bunk. Correct? How many hours a day did you work? Are there two shifts of three? How was the food? What was the longest you were out to sea. . . and how did you maintain your sanity.
Anything else you would like to add.
I once spoke with a lady whose husband was captain of a nuclear submarine. . . she said it took a very special person. With quarters far more cramped than you experience I can see why. She said he had to go through extreme psychological testing. So, did they just throw you all on a ship. . . or were there special requirements.
