Beagle Shenanigans..

Well, we drove to Houston last Friday to pick up Trixie, the Beagle we had decided to adopt after losing Torrie several weeks ago.. We both fell in love with Trixie right off the bat.. she would look into your eyes with her big, brown eyes and then just slowly lick your face.. Very sweet girl, but, every time she would get near Gypsie, our little rescued Pocket Beagle, she would growl and show aggression.. At one point she bit Gypsie on the neck and my wife had to pull her off.. So, with broken hearts we didn't bring Trixie home with us.. I feel terrible about it, but I know we did the right thing.. We don't know a lot about animal behavior and there are no specialists in our town, and I just couldn't do that to Gypsie, who was afraid of her after that incident.. But, I feel terrible about it for Trixie, non-the-less because I know its not her fault - somewhere down the line a human failed her..

So, we found another Pocket Beagle in New Orleans.. She has had a TERRIBLE life so far - used as a breeding machine, thrown away in the streets and attacked by another animal with bite marks on her.. She has severe PTSD and is afraid of everything she is not familiar with.. So, we've cleared the majority of hurdles - the foster parent is SUPER protective of her - and will probably go pick her up next Friday the 29th.. Well, that is if she gets along with Gypsie.. Hopefully they do cuz I hate driving.. Going to Houston was 6 hours each way, going to NO will be about 10..
