Don't feel bad, Jimmy.. My 3 Beagles, all rescues from horrible situations and horrific injuries, are the worst behaved dogs I've ever seen.. they jump all over everyone who comes over.. They know what time breakfast, dinner, snacks, and bones are and st art barking incessantly when the "think" it's time.. they usually start 2 hours early.. ever time I get up for ANYTHING, they immediately start barking and jumping all over me wanting treats.. They follow me into the bathroom... and everywhere else I go..
As soon as I open the front door, they are through it like lightning.. if the front gate is open, I'll be chasing them down all day.. when I open things the fridge, they try to jump inside - for food or for coolness in summer.. when I leave for any reason, they chew on anything they can sink their teeth into.. especially rugs as well as outer corners of floor molding.. they have quite often left me "gifts" right next to an open door where ther could have gone outside..
Invariably, every day when I get home from work, they start barking trying to play with each other, while I'm trying to nap.. they scratch at the closed door of the room their food is stored in - because every now and then I'll drop a nugget and they can smell it 8 feet away through a closed door.. 30 minutes of scatching at the door to get ONE nugget maybe a quarter of an inch wide by a quarter inch long.. they jump on the bed and burrough under the covers and plop up against me, making me sweat in 35 degree weather.. I could go on for days..
But they have those huge brown Beagle eyes, so they get away with murder.. No, they won't grow out of it.. one is 11 years old, one 8 years old and one 7 years old.. They have grown up about all they possibly can.. and I really wouldn't want them any other way.. after what they've been through, they deserve to be spoiled, so I do my best..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
