We are still not trained to his satisfaction but he hasn't given up on us.
Our refrigerator has one of those slide out drawers above the freezer and just below the main fridge. Funny thing - I have never once given Guido a snack from that drawer. In fact... I was threatened not too because that would teach Guido to 'beg', (as if he needed help in that regard). AND YET... whenever I slide that drawer out I have to be cautious because Guido will appear out of thin air and doing about 73mph. So something tells me that I'm the only one obeying the no snacks from the slide out drawer rule.
I have to be honest here.... we are not the best 'house dog trainers'. Couple that with the fact that English Springers could be the most obstinate and stubborn animals on planet earth and, welllll, you get the idea. We cannot stop him from attacking guests.... and by attacking I mean jumping on them wanting to play. WE've given up. Tony could probably fix it in an hour but none of us even try anymore.
Our cats have grudgingly given up their hope that we would sell Guido into slavery and these days somewhat tolerate him... but it's not easy because Guido's biggest passion in life is harassing them until they mentally break and end up chasing him. Woe to he or she residing on the sofa when Guido wants to use his over the sofa leap to elude the cats.
So anyway, he's 2 now. First indoor dog I ever had. Ok, Ok, so maybe I like him..... a little.
