We got one a couple of years ago. I don't notice any significant savings. You're likely smarter than I am, but if you do get one spend some time figuring out all the settings. My better-half does not love it because the Google Nest seems picky about letting her control it with her smartphone. I've had no issue controlling it from anywhere as long as I have the phone. Sometimes when she is at home working (Zoom Meetings and can't get away from the computer etc.) and I am away at work she will text me to adjust the temperature. Before we changed settings if I left the house with my phone the Nest would turn the heat down because it assumed that the house was empty. So two winters ago, we were on vacation for a week and the Nest turned the temperature right down for after we were gone for a few days. I didn't think to check the app before returning home and our house was a walk-in-freezer. Thankfully no pipes froze, but I was worried. I forget what setting we had it on, but it took me a while to figure out why it happened, and we have avoided the problem since. I am sure there is a way to maximize your savings if you take the time to figure out all the smart settings.
