I've had good luck with cordless.... except as you say....

batteries. I'm VERY lucky to get 3 years before the battery is toast.

They've always provided enough power for most things BUT.... for my weed eater I have a gas model, not cordless. No chance a cordless would work for me with a weed eater.... too big of an area to cover, weeds are too tough.
