Jurisprudence is not a "one fits all" system. Countries and even states differ on the rules of evidence. Even in our country the Federal procedures are different than State procedures. The number of jurors and even if a particular case is triable in front of jurors or simply a judge differs.

I sat in as a guest attorney in Australia once. The case was about a group of Aboriginal Australians who were suing a magazine over what they deemed slanderous coverage. Only 6 jurors. The bias of the presiding judge was clear. After most of the questions asked of a witness by the lawyer representing the Plaintiffs the judge would comment on the testimony as not believable. Often he would interrupt the lawyer with "come, come, that is a dumb question".
