I won't rehash my complaints about the overuse of CGI here. Instead, I'll praise it.. when they get it right.
For those of you who saw "The Hobbit" movies I'm referring to the second one - "The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug". I could bring up many CGI scenes in that series of movies but the one that blows my mind the most is the River Scene. If you need a reminder... it's when the Dwarves, and Bilbo, make their escape riding down the river in barrels.
Just finished watching that scene not having seen it in some time.... but I never forgot it. I swear I'm more in awe every time I see it, no matter how many times.
I can picture in my mind all the tech nerds in their cubicles working their magic then sharing with the other nerds and doing high fives and dancing jigs around their offices... they had to be PROUD of themselves.
If you've never seen The Hobbit (all the movies in the series), I would suggest at least watching that scene if you can find it. Extraordinary... and that's an understatement. - JamesJM
