Jimmy Stewart is, by far, my wife's favorite actor.... she's actually rather obsessive about it.
The Rams are my favorite team... you probably knew that.
For years I had season tickets to the Rams... first at the Coliseum then in Anaheim. We drove down for every home game... 500 miles round trip. After the game my wife insisted that we drive by Jimmy's home on the way home and if I didn't I would die a very painful death, even if I hinted that it was out of the way my demise would be swift and vicious. So every home game we also drove by Jimmy's house.... until one day...
We drive by and they were tearing it down... he had only recently passed away. My wife was inconsolable.... she made me park and leaped from the car and walked onto the demolition site, weeping. The supervisor took pity on her and showed her around the grounds... some walls were still standing but for the most part it was gone. And so today....
There is a shelf in my living room... it holds a couple bricks from his fireplace, a doorknob (maybe two?), a large branch from a tree where apparently Jimmy sat in the shade in his backyard... and various other artifacts.... that shelf is: "sacrosanct" No one, and I mean NO ONE, is allowed to touch anything on it.... even looking at it will come with a warning. - JamesJM
