by the great author Don DeLillo is a non-linear novel with many intertwined themes-one of which is whatever happened to the ball that Thomason hit. It's of course fiction but the initial chapters deal with leading up to the game, youngsters sneaking in, dignitaries and celebrities attending, etc. One of the kids who snuck in is a teenage African American lad who ends up with the ball. His father eventually sells it to someone and a good part of the first half is searching for the ball and its ownership as well as the drama approaching the HR itself. I still will never understand by Branca was brought in.
A great trivia question is : Who was in the batter's box when "the shot heard around the world" ? Of course by simply asking the Q gives away the answer.
