First off it was a beautiful evening, granted it started out in the mid 90's but I mean it is the trailing weeks of summer, not like it's mid Dec. I joked about bringing an "extra $20 for a couple beers, well I was a couple bucks short...they were $11 each LOL.....another odd thing was they allowed you to bring in a bottled water, but it had to be a sealed bottle until you entered inside the gate, so in other words you couldn't drink your water while standing in line in 95 or so temps....LOL
The show started out kinda slow as far as the audience, everyone was staying in their seats (a bit tuckered out from waiting in line?). Tom Johnson was a no show, we learned the guy has just gone through back surgery....hope he recovers ASAP. I do think that he was/is a main cog in the Doobies gears...they did well without him, but I just know he had to be missed. As the show continued and the skies went dark the people started gearing up. They played for a good 2 1/2 hours, did a couple from the new album (thumbs down from me...didn't care for them), but the last half hour or more was made up of Jesus is Alright, China Grove, Takin it to the Streets, Blackwater.....you get the point and EVERYONE was on there feet dancing in place, singing, clapping.....( I did think that the guitar level for McFee was a bit out of wack with everyone else, he seemed to louder than everyone else)
Heard they are headed to Redondo Beach as the tour continues and then flying cross country for more shows on the East Coast...guess they are for sure covering their bases on this Anniversary Tour...see them if you can .
