Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. She wrote "The Yearling" in a tiny place called Cross Creek. It's right off of Hwy 301, not TOO far from Gainesville. I hear there's a small Restaurant and a couple of B&Bs there. It's rather peaceful. I can only imagine what it was like there for a City Girl Writer in the 20s/ 30s.
The small town of Micanopy (Where Micael J Fox's "Doc Hollywood" was filmed) is a neat tiny town. It too is close to Cross Creek.
