Our soil is generally sandy loam. Combination of clay and loam. Like Jimmy said it absorbs water pretty well.

We were finishing tomato harvest late yesterday just as the rains came. Luckily they were able to finish. A neighbor just a mile to the east of me wasn't so lucky. They got rained out and I'm not sure when they'll be able to finish. They were just under the wrong cloud.
