Barb got me the same knowing my admiration for "The Band". She also puuchased for me "The Band Across the Great Divide" (vinyl)This album also has some great photos of "Big Pink" a large garage turned into a sound studio in upper New York ( I think?) The album features Garth Hudson, Richart Manuel, Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Jaime Robbie Robertson plus John simon.
On a somewhat unrelated -but actually related subjec-I'm reading a book "Rock Me On The Water" by Ronald Brownstein-a book that reflects on 1974 when the music and films from Hollywood and TV transformed our movies, television, and politics. The Band is part of the history and the books predominance celebrites are Jack Nickolson, Warren Beaty, Neil Young, Linda Rondstadt, All in the Family, Mash, Chinatown,, etc. A great book on the significance of L.A.when it comes to our culture and belief systems-and the great influence of Viet Nam and the protest music coming out during this time.
