The cost of eating out

July 22, 2023 02:36PM
I rarely go out to eat and I rarely even get fast food. It's not because I don't like to eat out. I DO. But the cost is just nuts and I just don't like spending a ton of money to do it.

A few weeks ago a local Italian deli opened a new location about a mile from my house. I've never eaten at any of their other locations. So, I thought I'd stop and get a sandwich for Frank and one for myself. They had a 6" sandwich and a 9" sandwich. I bought two 9" sandwiches: a hot salami & roast beef for Frank and an Italian Trio for myself (Mortadella, genoa, and hot salami served on garlic cheese bread wth pepperoncinis, onions, and vinegar & oil. ). My bill for two sub sandwiches, no chips and no drinks was $30.80 !!! unreal.

And then yesterday I stopped at the McDonald's drive-thru to get a Filet-o-Fish and a Medium Fry. I didn't even get a drink. It cost me $8.20. I about choked. I don't know how families do it. Frank and I eat out so rarely these days that when we do, it's a real treat.
