About driving through there TOO often. With each passing, it seems more distant. You'd THINK I had lived there for 55 years but we moved away when I had just turned 11. But, of course, I still went back because of friends. It was SOOOOOOO cool living in a place where I could tell you the names of every person on our block and the streets that ran off of it. How many 10 year olds could do that these days?? Now?? I can tell you the names of only 4 houses on my street. My neighborhood was loaded with folks who had been there since the 1940s and even 30s. They have all gone now. EVERY one. In recent years, several around MY age have passed, including my Brother and my best friend and one of HIS Brothers. The fella we buried today was 74 but I can vividly recall him when he was in his 20s. I'm such a nostalgic guy, it really hurts to see the people fade.
