I think all I've ever seen were the headlines. But yeah.. weird... kind of sounded to me like a saving face compromise by the police after all the mistakes they made... BUT... I didn't read very much about it so I don't know.

Not this next is from memory... so fact check me.... but 'Useable DNA", enough to convict, is apparently only found in like 5% of homicides. IOW... the lack of DNA at the scene (some of it lost btw), is not at all unusual and in fact normal. - JamesJM
