Put aside the 'genre' of music in this post. That's not the point... as you will see.

There was a ranch near Fresno Ca. called "Coombs Ranch". It was on the banks of the San Joaquin River. Acres of carefully manicured grass... towering oak trees... as well as many other types of trees. For a decade or so back in the 90's a local radio station hosted a Smooth Jazz Concert at Coombs Ranch. 3 Stages. Two smaller stages and the main stage. When one band finished they'd tear down while a band on another stage would begin - - so there was no break in the music.

Concerts began in the early afternoon and ended around 11pm, sometime a little later. Perhaps... oh, 8 bands. About 3 or 4 would be lesser known bands but 4 or 5 would be big name 'smooth jazz' artists/bands.

It was..... "magnificent". Food stands everywhere, adult beverages as well. Autograph booths. But it was the 'outdoors' nature of it that was the true headliner.

Some of you have mentioned some venues that, to me anyway, sound even more magnificent.... what is that outdoor venue built into the rocks? Red Rock? Something like that? That place looks incredible.

Anyway... Coombs ranch is no more... it's now a Golf Course. I played it two weeks ago... had a great time... but the entire time I was thinking, "Wish it was still Coombs Ranch and I was at a music concert".
