Most famously a few years ago when the water shed got down to 11% and we had to start harvesting sewer water - right after someone pooped it - and re-filter it and put it back in the water shed.. This was the first time in US history that had been done and the eyes of the country - and the world, really - were on us to see if it would work.. It DID work..
Partly worked because we and a TON of other local residents got 5 gallon bottled water jugs because we weren't gonna drink the "poop water" as it was called.. It did keep the water shed level at 11%, tho.. So they permanently implemented it - at least they were supposed to.. about 6 months later we had the MOTHER of all rain storms over a 3 day period that FLOODED the water shed and the town.. in ONE day the shed went from 11% to over 100%, causing massive flooding in several counties.. It was a TRUE Noah's Arks type rain, but localized here... craziest time ever..
