Getting through his reads very quickly and that is something that has a lot of benefits. On some plays he definitely missed options that were downfield. But overall being fast through his reads and getting to the checkdown on that backside so quickly you're gonna get 5 to 10 yards easy due to Cam getting the ball in space. And that's worst case, where you don't catch them with an open option in those early reads.
Overall effect is the offense is fast and fluid. Less big plays downfield but more staying ahead of the chains. Which has been an issue for our offense all season long, that tendency to fall behind the chains and the OL gets exposed by the resultant rush. Basically what Baker is doing right now is speed reading to help the OL and it's working.
What Staley is going to do is scheme in robbers to try to capitalize on this as well as more of the line movement that has given our OL issues on the rush. So this next game is going to put a lot on Baker to be ready for the adjustments. And McVay is going to need to stick with the run game so we can capitalize on catching them making those big lanes which are the drawback of said line movement.
All told this QB play we are getting is making these games fun to watch. We are bad and we are out of it but I don't mind, still enjoying very much watching this team do its thing right now and that is all due to Baker elevating our depth QB play.
