Hardly know where to start.
In no particular order of importance…
McVay called running plays and stuck with them.
This patchwork OL was actually opening up some holes. Even mediocre players improve with continuity?
The OL pass pro was impressive, too. Kudos to players and coaches alike.
Akers looked like he was his rookie self. No evidence whatsoever of the Achilles after effects.
Higbee played like a man possessed! His best game ever, imo.
McVay even gave Hopkins some snaps and Hopkins looked good. Where has our TE O been all year? Topic for another thread itself.
Do my eyes deceive me or did Rams actually have a pass rush in this game? Truly a sight to behold from an unexpected quarter. Dare I say it, but do Murchison and Hoecht lessen the offseason need for Edge, at least a little bit?
Great to see Durant getting snaps and playing well. This kid looks like a keeper. But what took so long to get him on the damned field?
Honestly, there were so many youngsters that flashed that it’s impossible to name them all here. But my question is this. Why did it take until game 15 for them to get their chance? Rams coaches from McVay on down should be soul-searching this morning. Rams were struggling mightily and yet inferior players were on the field while promising youngsters languished on the bench. THAT is a coaching issue.
Baker Mayfield’s career path is headed north, y’all. He’s not perfect but a year or two under McVay and some tutoring by Stafford should polish him up a great deal. Hope Rams can keep him onboard until Stafford hangs ‘em up. Romo pointed out during the broadcast that Mayfield is already doing some ‘next level’ stuff.
What should we expect in these last 2 games? Well, I hope to see more of this ‘let it all hang out’ style. Lot’s more snaps for youngsters. We have a few gems and I want to see more, please. I’d like to see that Carter kid at TE or FB as an example.
It’s been a very tough year, but I do think Rams future in ‘23 is very bright IF Snead can make about 6 shrewd FA/draft offseason decisions and McVay upgrades his asst coaching staff and gets back to a more balanced O.
