What if Mayfield and his agent are mature enough to take a long term pov? Say, the next 10+ years combined?
He could sit behind Stafford for 1-2 years and learn football nuances from McVay and Stafford that would simply be unavailable at almost any other team. THEN he could take over for next 8+ years and build a SB caliber legacy while winning lots of games and having loads of fun.
Or he could take that short term bigger contract next year and be saddled with a lesser coach and team. It could be Browns and Panthers all over again. For years.
I know what I would advise him if he were my own son. Lol.
