Best case scenario is that Mayfield comes in and impresses the hell out of the league. Someone signs him to juicy contract and Rams later get a nice comp pick. This scenario is unlikely.
Next best case scenario might be that Mayfield plays moderately well but no other teams offer him a better contract than Rams. In this scenario Mayfield signs as Ram backup and Rams backup QB position is both solved and upgraded. That’s a Ram win.
Worst case scenario is that Mayfield crashes and burns as a Ram. Rams only spend $1.4M and still upgraded their QB situation for 5 games over the miserable Wolford and Perkins. Still a Ram win even in worst case scenario.
