Rams vs. Chiefs highlights Week 12

Sean McVay got an early wake-up call during Sunday’s Rams-Chiefs game at Arrowhead when tight end Roger Carter Jr., who was just elevated from the practice squad, collided with McVay as he was sprinting onto the field. McVay took the full brunt of Carter’s shoulder to the jaw, leaving him shaken up for a moment.

It was as hard a hit as you’ll see a coach take on the sideline, but after being checked out, McVay managed to coach the rest of the game. Talk about grit.

Following the Rams’ 26-10 loss to the Chiefs, McVay talked about the hit and said he feels OK.

“It’s good. I took a good shot. Roger ran right into me. It was a good shot but I’m OK,” McVay said when asked how his jaw is.”

So what was he thinking about he got hit?

“I was thinking, ‘Have a little awareness running by me.’ I mean, oh my gosh,” McVay said. “But it’s one of those deals, it’s really not that big a deal. Probably looked worse when you end up replaying it. But it was a good shot at first. I was just glad I didn’t – I don’t think I broke my jaw, so I’ll be fine.”

From the video, Carter seemed completely unaware that he decked his coach running onto the field, and he confirmed afterwards that he didn’t even realize he ran into McVay until he returned to the sideline and someone told him.

He understandably feels bad about it.

#Rams tight end Roger Carter said he hasn't spoken to Sean McVay. Carter said he didn't know he hit McVay until he returned to the sideline and someone told him. "I felt bad," Carter said

McVay feels OK now, but he’ll probably have a sore jaw on Monday morning when he’s going through the film.
