By running the ball on all 3 downs - apart from it being a cowardly act - McVay sent a terrible leadership message to his offense, to his qb, to his defence and really to the entire team - that he lacks belief in his offense, that he doesn't think that they can get one measly first down and that he lacks the balls to go for the win in crunch timeI wouldn't go as far as "cowardly act" it was more about the stupid analytics ...
although I agree 100% that McVay should have at least ran a bootleg RPO on that 3rd and 5 and try to get that first down at all cost even if it meant risking leaving an extra 30 seconds on the clock, I think most coaches would have done the exact same thing and ran three times just to get that clock down to as low as it could possibly get...also, considering how bad the Bucs looked all day on offense, but I disagree with that idea...like I said, a nice little bootleg with a run pass option SHOULD have been the call on the 3rd down play
10 yards away from certain victory....you go and get that 10 yards!!!!
