In my opinion, the Rams most shameful moment so far in the 2022 season was declining to attempt to get a game-clinching first down on 3rd and 5 on their final possession. If you don't have enough confidence to keep the game in your control and go for the first down, this means that the coaching staff has lost confidence in the team to get the job done when it counts the most. If they say they had confidence in the defense to close out the game, that would only be an admission of cluelessness. A smart coach would never want to put your fate in the hands of your defense late in a game when anything can happen. It is always preferable to take control and clinch the game by getting a first down.
