Yeah, fan interest... I see your point. But my sense is that we play each game to win and the head coach plays the players that put the team in the best position to win - for reasons we don't understand. At least I don't.
All that said, playing Perkins as an experiment just to see how he does might get somebody hurt on broken plays while quite likely producing nothing. I don't think he's starting NFL ready yet - despite some flashy training camp outings against other scrubs.
For this fan it'd be like watching a plane crash instead of a train wreck. No thanks.
IMO we need two things; A healthy-enough O line to compete using a simplified playbook to accomodate new personnel, and playcalling and design suited to available personnel and adjusted to situations, matchups.
